  2. The Hustler was no slowpoke. It flew several record-setting flights in its day. Not sure what happened on this day, though.

  9. They teach new AF pilots that this is what happens when you yank back on the stick before you reach takeoff velocity.

    But I'm actually picturing the USAF equivalent of junior birdman Gomer Pyle, sent to sweep up the tarmac as punishment, who went out there while everyone was at lunch, lifted up the nose gear "to get under the wheels and plane", then couldn't get it back down afterwards.

    The episode writes itself.
