And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? Step-dad would fly one from Kisarazu Japan to Korea with a maintenance crew to recover damaged aircraft. They would somehow fit 3 maintainers and a spare pilot to fly the repaired aircraft.
IIRC, there is a cubical in the belly, used by the navigator, plus the bomb bay can be repurposed. I think some versions had a ventral gunner. You can see portholes below the "25" and insignia.
The aircraft pictured IS a TBM; you can tell by the cowl flaps. It'd be a safe bet anyway; 3/4 of the Avengers were TBM's, built by Eastern Aircraft (GM). Boat Guy

ReplyDeleteGeorge H W Bush flew a TBM Avenger in the war. Same thing as the TBF pictured but made by General Motors to the Grumman design.
