  1. A burger joint that was air cooled? How bougie.

    2. I take 'Air Cooled' as meaning "We have a couple of swamp coolers running".

I reckon Central Valley is underwater now. I could find no evidence of it ever having existed. I also wonder if that's old Highway 99 we see in that photo.

  5. I used to pass through that area on a regular basis in the late 1970s early , 80's. I was a "student fireman" at the Central Valley F.D. The buildings looked pretty much the same then. The Silver Dollar Saloon was a Mexican Food Restaurant. The building on the left had a big window and you could see a long table with little Mexican women patting out tortillas. They served the "BEST" Mexican food I have ever tasted to this day.
You won't find Central Valley on the Maps because the communities of Project City, Central Valley, and Toyon were annexed together to form the community of Shasta Lake City.
I imagine Woody Guthrie played and sang for drinks there back when they were building Shasta Dam.

  6. I sold auto parts to then Lake Auto Parts and Watsons Auto Parts from 1967 to mid 70’s. It was Central Valley then. I enjoyed seeing the reason it’s no longer Central Valley. Thanks for that and a trip down memory lane.

  8. Do a search for City of Shasta Lake, there are several good histories of the area
