And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
was two aircraft magazines, airpower and wings, that would take a plane and wring every ounce of info out of it, the series' covering multi issues. anyway they covered the p-47 and the sheer amount of damage they could take was immense, and got the pilot back.
My dad flew one in WWII. He was part of the occupation of Germany after the hostilities ended. He said they blew their planes up in Germany when he went back to the US after the war. They weren't worth shipping back to the US.
The oldest surviving P47 (a recoverable wreck ex PNG) is under restoration in Australia and will fly again. It was recently for sale as a near complete project but has just been sold I gather. Money can't buy happiness but it gets close when you can have something like this and preserve history.
