And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I had a buddy in high school who'd dad owned a 56 convertible BelAir with a yellow and root beer paint job. The driveline had been swapped out with a 350 sporting a 761 blower and a 4 speed. My buddy now has the car and he rebuilt it 20 years ago where he put a low mileage Vortec and a 5 speed in it.
Agree! I'm not an accessory nut either. The only non original parts I think make this car better looking are the T-bird wire wheels and maybe the skirts. Still about as good looking a 56 Ford as you'll see! Bubbarust
I just do NOT understand the accessorizing theme with resto projects. I've growled about that before, but this one is a real puzzler. The paint scheme made me wonder as well, but that combination appears in the sales brochures.
The continental kit causes handling problems in the corners...to the point of spinning out. The bumpers actually live up to their name and I have used them on more than one occasion. Also had to have them used on me to get the engine started.
Those front end suspensions were pretty loose as compared to today's cars. The extra weight of that type of bumper made the vehicle 'roll' upwards away from the angle going into hard corners. They made the front of the vehicle pull away in the opposite direction of where you were turning.
Yes, it's a '56. The '55 had a single wide chrome spear from the door to the tail light. In '56 they made the spear wider with four ridges. Al_in_Ottawa

I remember when they were about $400 used. I bought a '57 Chevy convertible in '65 for $700. God, I'm old.

ReplyDeleteThat makes me curious - all I can see is a bumper extention and wheel well covers. Why did it change handling?
