And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
A very impressive engine, 300hp out of 140lbs. The Allison C250 powered the Bell 206 and Hughes 500 in Vietnam. Rolls-Royce bought Allison about 20 years ago and is still making them. As mentioned previously the helicopter is an Aerospatiale 355 Twinstar and yes it does have elastomeric bearings. Al_in_Ottawa
C250’s are weird. Cold air in the front, burned in the back & puked out the middle. And I thought PT-6’s were backwards…. I’ve seen those Allisons dropped into Cessna 206’s.
The high-time pilots who cut their teeth on Hueys and flew JetRangers for years still complain about the "rubber-band powered" French machines, but they seem to hold up pretty well.
Impressive twin engines. That's a performance machine there.
ReplyDeleteTwinstah as they say in Boston
ReplyDeleteWhen I look at that rotor head I think elastomeric bearings...
ReplyDeleteRemember guys, righty tighty.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm. Now if we were to take that and drop it into a lightweight, chrome moly chassis...

DeleteLooks like it might be one of the LAPD birds.
