  6. Props look quite wispy. Could they really overcome the resistance in the water to get this beast in the air?

In total it had 25,000hp from it's six engines and the inner 5,000hp engines drove counter-rotating props with four blades each, take a look at the right edge of the pic and you can see the front and rear blades. Unfortunately airports were being built with 10,000ft runways and the age of the jet had dawned.

  8. A Mohawk pilot remarked to me (at the end of the runway just before takeoff for my first nape of the earth flight along the DMZ in Korea) that the Mohawk is proof positive that if you put long enough wings and enough horsepower on a brick, it will fly
