  3. That stuff is just a part of my life. The cardboard reel finally emptied after twenty years. Just ordered a thousand foot replacement. Should still be some on it when I'm gone. It's Supposed to be good for 500 pounds. No Way am I going to use one length to hoist my 390 pound bike. Ratchet straps are great for Real loads,but if you're using the skinny straps from Harbor Freight you'd be ahead to learn how to Tie a load down. The bowline is a great knot. The Easy way is throw a slipknot, stab the tag end through the loop, double it back on itself and pull the slipknot. It makes a bowline. If you go over the loop and back through, it's an inside bowline.

    1. double/triple the twist in the slip knot, easier to untie.

  4. If it can't be done with paracord and/or 100 mph tape, then best not bother.
