  3. The US Navy totally f*cked up when they mothballed their battle wagons.

    Why? You ask. Well, the US Marine Corps relies on naval gunfire if and when they make a "wet landing." The remaining 6" guns don't do as good of a job and 16" guns. I know, the USS New Jersey came on station in the So China Sea in April of 1968 and from that day forward, the "Jersey" kicked a lot of NVA butt.

  5. I had a neighbor Fred Carson Lloyd who was 16 year old PT boat gunners mate. He said they were allowed aboard the BB55 and stole everything they could carry, food, booze, and a pilots leather jacket. the captain forbit their return calling them 'undisciplined pirates'
