And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
P-47 Thunderbolt? It would make quite the racket inside that building! My dad told me stories of talking to pilots that flew them. They loved the plane, but not if they lost the engine. One of the pilots reffered to it as "trying to make a brick glide!"
Udvar-Hazy Center of the National Air and Space Museum at Dulles Airport, Virginia. Been there...an amazing collection! Including "Enola Gay" and a Space Shuttle...
Air force museum in Dayton Ohio is another great visit. I thought a whole day was enough but it wasn't nearly enough. Has the flying boxcar there (delivered the plutonium device to Nagasaki). A lot of other historical aircraft. Hope to go back sometime.

ReplyDeleteColorado Springs has an incredible WW-2 Air Museum where ALL of the planes are able to fly. And they do take them out on occassion.
