  1. P-47 Thunderbolt? It would make quite the racket inside that building! My dad told me stories of talking to pilots that flew them. They loved the plane, but not if they lost the engine. One of the pilots reffered to it as "trying to make a brick glide!"

  3. Udvar-Hazy Center of the National Air and Space Museum at Dulles Airport, Virginia. Been there...an amazing collection! Including "Enola Gay" and a Space Shuttle...

  4. Colorado Springs has an incredible WW-2 Air Museum where ALL of the planes are able to fly. And they do take them out on occassion.

  5. Air force museum in Dayton Ohio is another great visit. I thought a whole day was enough but it wasn't nearly enough. Has the flying boxcar there (delivered the plutonium device to Nagasaki). A lot of other historical aircraft. Hope to go back sometime.

  6. The Enola Gay has a rather elaborate spit shield around it.
