  4. When I was in high school, I got a job washing dishes. The manager had been on a Destroyer in the pacific during WW2. He told me that whilr they were cruising a shark came up next the ship and followed along for awhile and then disappeared below. He swore it had

    He swore the thing was at least 75 feet long. A number of crew also saw it. He was a good boss and very serious at work, not given to cutting up or joking around much. He may have been pulling my leg but I never saw him do anything like that with anyone else.

Back in mid-1967, as a young US Marine training for a "wet landing" off the coast of Camp Pendleton, I looked off the side of the LSD ship that we were being transported on and there in the water just off the port side of the ship was a massive shark. It was just leisurely swimming along next to us. I watched it for maybe an hour and all of a sudden it was gone.
