1917: German Zeppelin L-49 crashes in Bourbonne-les-Bains, France

  1. Speaking of crashes, you might look up the crash of Quentin Roosevelt, the youngest son of President Theodore Roosevelt. Interesting story as he dropped out of Harvard and joined the United States Army Air Service and became a pursuit pilot. On July 14, 1918 outside of Chamery, France he was shot down and killed by a German pilot. The family had a memorial fountain installed in the town not far from where he died.

  3. Check out a book called "Inviting Disaster". Goes through major accidents through history, lots of Zeppelins in there. Every accident (in hindsight) gives no less than 5 indicators something is coming; just gotta see them.
