Stacking Coin. Given the recent spot price of silver, the question becomes whether it's too late to stack more, or not.

  1. Probably worth more as collectibles. If you want to buy silver for the metal value, buy something a little more modern. Still probably a better hedge against inflation than dollars, over the long haul.

    1. No… it’s called junk silver for a reason, it has little to no numismatic value. In normal times the premium over spot has been lower than most silver products. Stack more? Stack now? Today’s price may seem like a bargain in the future 🤷🏻‍♂️

  2. Go for the bullion! In real terms it's less expensive.

    1. Yep… then your only worry is if it turns out to actually be Chinesium instead of silver…

    2. They can be tested.

    3. The problem with that is anyone will accept junk silver as such.
For the same reason they'll assumed your bullion is silver-plated lead until proven otherwise.

  3. I like the junk silver dollars, everybody knows what they are. Prices are up there today but if you wait they will go back down.. well they always have in the past.

  4. Damn digital currency is gonna screw everyone over. What do you do with your precious metal then? And, oh yeah, they're gonna do it. Got a little junk and bullion don't know if I want more.

    1. I'm thinking that gold & sliver will always have value. They may try & replace physical money with digital but the black market will be there.

    2. I believe you are correct. History is kinda irrelevant now on this topic. Digital destroys.

    3. Watch. If the digital dollar becomes the coin of the realm ownership of gold, silver, lead and brass will become illegal and all must be turned in. Did I read too many sci fi books? Don't think so.

    4. "If the digital dollar becomes the coin of the realm" - it's not a question of if, but when. The Federal Reserve actually has a project to provide broadband internet to rural areas. At first blush, why would they bother? Welp, you can't have a digital currency when parts of the country are excluded now, can you?

  5. If it's a junk US silver coin there's no need for testing.

  6. Have a decent amount of silver but I have a heck of a lot more high speed lead than silver. Don't know if I'll need either but it's better to have both and not need them than to need them and not have them.

  7. Anonymous @11:59 AM - Don't forget tin (as in cans). They will tide you over until the high speed lead is needed.

My neighbor likes the Morgan-style "rounds" as they look very similar to silver dollars and in case of a SHTF situation, he thinks they will be easier to pass. Silver is (relatively) inexpensive right now, but it is so damned heavy compared to an equivalent value in gold.

    1. How big is a $5 gold coin?
Think realistically, about how you spend money on a daily basis.

    2. A $5 gold piece is around the size of a dime and still worth a good amount as gold.... 1/10 of an ounce (2017 $5 gold coin) selling for around $300 now... An old Morgan $1 coin (late 1800s-early 1900s) I just saw for $32.50

  10. 18yrs ago purchased 3 bags of junk silver. Pre 1965, Nickels dimes and quarters. 2800.00 to 3200.00 a bank bag if I remember correctly. Last year I sold a bag for almost 20000.00. Could barely afford it back then. Holding the last 2.Great InVestment.
