And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
1) That's a well-trimmed circle beard, and anything but shaggy. 2) His well past military age, thus beyond any would-be sergeant's expectations about haircut schedules. 3) Having achieved white hair and male-pattern baldness, he's far beyond the age of needing to impress anyone with his mere appearance. one ought to google art of Ben Franklin, Socrates, Einstein, et al, if they have any confusion on this point. 4) He's wearing a shirt, jacket, glasses, and reading a newspaper, as a paying customer at a public house at 12:33 in the afternoon, which puts him ahead of at least 50% of the male population of the planet. 5) He's probably smarter now, and was more of a badass at 21, than at least half of the men alive, not least of which by surviving this long. 6) His friend (who probably took this picture) joins him for what is probably a daily or semi-daily ritual between the two of them. Note the extra jacket and glasses catty-corner from where he's sitting. A man that age with good friends as well as good mental faculties isn't to be taken lightly. For all those reasons, I'd be inclined to cut him some slack, and mind my own business.
All that from not just looking at a picture, but actually seeing what's in it.
Just saying.

This particular one appears to be the Plaza Dorrego Bar at Defensa 1098 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I may never go there, but if I ever do, it's now on my official bucket list of places to drop in.
Bull Droppings!!!!! Barbers haircuts in some cities cost 3-4 days worth of food. And razor blade cartridges of 4 or more cartridges cost even more depending on the brand.
I like your reply. Don't want to go back to the days of going into a bar getting hassled for long hair. Besides, the guy in the photo is decently trimmed and groomed.
Well lit.
ReplyDeleteYou know? Everywhere I go these days, old men have shaggy beards and mustaches and need a haircut.
ReplyDeleteExcept for the 1950's it's always been that way.
DeleteYeah, I guess so. As our moral decay deepens and people lose their own self-respect ... it is real.
DeleteSo what? if they've managed to survive that long, I think they can be cut a break or two. No?
