The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? As a teenager I made an Arkansas toothpick with an 18" blade out of a RR spike. I put a deep bead of a high nickel content on the blade edge so it would hold an edge. It was prone to rust until I cleaned it up and put gun blue on it. It went missing while I was away at Basic Training like a few other things did.
Brother, the things I've lost 'misplaced' by others) over the years could kit our a metal and wood shop. Makes me sad to think of, so I try to put out of mind. I don't dally with cheap, only quality for tools. So yeah, some real nice stuff I've made or bought.
Nice looking but if really made of a railroad spike a poor grade of steel compared to 420 knife steel and such.
