And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
There's another cat out there right now needing you to come save it's life. Make it an indoor cat only and watch it live to be 20 years old or more. It's not about Maynerd. It's about the next one, in wait.
My amazing Dante passed away last September at almost 21. I just can't bring myself to have another cat. But cannot refute your advice. I just wished I could follow it.
We had a kat who loved to eat asparagus along with my wife. I don't eat anything green. My best buddy, Barn kat, didn't make it home almost a year ago. Still hurts, but I can't go through it again as much as I sure would like to give a kitty a chance.
We had a cat that would try to eat corn on the cob while it was still being boiled, some are highly attracted and others not so much….

Concur completely. Find another cat in need. I have two rescues, myself, Peaches, an eleven year old Gray Calico, and Gandalf, a Holstein tomkitten.
