And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Don't see many of those early Ranchero's around. Class mate of mine had a Dodge ElCamino like car, it was based off a Valiant, might been a 72 model, only one I ever seen. Great ride, slant 6, 3 speed column shift. Ton of leg room. Went like stink too, cause it was a rather light weight vehicle. Those slant 6 engines when you had a good one went pretty good. Had a Duster, thing was bullet proof, that was during the first fake clown world oil embargo when gas jumped to 55 cents a gallon, my Duster got excellent milage when I was keeping the ol' foot out of the gas pedal. Guy i got it from gave it one of those Rusty undercoating jobs, kept it from being a rust bucket. A drunk jumped the divider did a head on so it was totaled. Still miss it after all the rides over the years, funny how everyone has a favorite set of wheels they lost somehow.
In the early '60's, despite superior sales of Cushman scooters, distinctive styling and performance Eagle motor scooters placed them in very high demand. But 2-stroke 'skeeter killing Yamaha's were gaining on both. By '65-'66, California based Mustang was out of business.

ReplyDeleteThat's a Cushman Eagle in the back.
ReplyDeleteCushman. Now, there's a name I haven't heard in at least 50 years.
DeleteWas Cushman a Sears Roebuck model?
DeleteSears sold them, but they were a standalone company.
