And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
My grandfather owned two Brunswick houses in Detroit....I remember pinsetting over the summer when I was 8. Really sad to see this old place and others like it. I looked on google maps where his lanes were and it looks like a war zone..........downtown Motor City, in the Paris of the North.....
Back in high school (late 70's), there was a bowling alley in a tiny farming hamlet near me, couple dozen houses, even now, along the highway. Close enough for me 'n friends to have a sober night out.
I just checked, and I'm surprised that it's still operating. Gas station/gen'l store, the auto repair joint, one of the churches, all gone. Its a bedroom community with a feedmill/farm supply now.
When our bowling alley closed I bought 40ft of lane , it makes a great work bench. Would rather have the bowling alley.
ReplyDeleteguy I worked for grabbed the same and we carried it all over hell.
DeleteThings are worse for the Candlepin bowling fans.
