And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
If I didn't see pics or remember riding in them as a little kid, I would think my parents never had cool cars (or were cool at all!). My father had a '66 GTO, and he sold it to my staid, normally Buick-driving grandfather of all people. Lmao.
Dad was a gearhead and would trade cars every 2 years. He had a 64 GTO that he had seller's remorse and talked about it for over 40 years. I don't remember the GTO and all I remember about the next car was it was blue. I also remember the grey 68 Camaro RS, yellow 70 Road Runner, and green 72 Twister.
Around '70, a friend bought a '65 GTO that was 4sp, 389, and tri-power. Supposedly held the NHRA box-stock class record set by original owner. Lowered the time by near a full second, IIRC 12.29 sec. Tech guys were stunned to find it all original internally when they tore it down for qualification.
The controversy over Lemans or Tempest based GTOs rages unabated.
ReplyDeleteI'm in the Tempest camp.
Here is an excellent test review of the GTO (LeMans Pontiac), and the GTO (Ferrari) from the archives of Car and Driver

ReplyDeleteA classmate from High School had one. I saw him a couple of years ago at our 50th class reunion, he still has it.
