Back is where I used to get screwed too, but I enjoyed it.
They did not have today's technology, yet they had enough spare cash for drive-in restaurants to provide ducting with cool air for their patrons. Today not just the wrappers and cartons are minimized, but so is the food itself.
"Sir, we can cool down the whole family with the turbo-wind chill device but we will not be held responsible if it blows your french fries out the window."
Never saw that, but I fondly remember carhops on roller skates asking us to roll the window up a couple inches to hang the tray on.
