And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Compared to Stalin, Krushchev and Putin Gorbichev wasn't a bad guy. Rest in Peace Gorby
ReplyDeleteYa, he is a good commie just like every democrat. I wish them all well...not.
DeleteDon't forget Mr Eyebrows Leonid Brezhnev
DeleteGorby wansa be a gunslinger....
ReplyDeleteTwo great men who fought for freedom, not knowing those they fought for gave it all away.
ReplyDeleteThat very day I was in a soar plane out of Santa Ynez. Some great thermals that day. I was following the ridge when they kicked me out of the airspace. Reagan's western White House was just the other side of the ridge. I was nearly 10,000 but had to turn away from the best thermals.
ReplyDeleteI did like Mikhail Gorbachev.
Story goes that as a kid in WWII Groby's life was saved by Spam from the US. He never forgot that and set an inclination to view the west and especially the US in a good light. Reagan knew how to relate to him, and Nancy and Raisa got along very well, too. Had Gorby not been the man in the arena at that time, along with Reagan, Thatcher, JP2, and a few others, things may have gone very differently in the world.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking Gorby's hat is on backwards.
