And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Thinking I'd get drafted during Viet Nam I went to the recruiter to see if I could get in the Seabees. He was honest and said I'd probably end up in the regular army. Turned him down and never got drafted.
My old Battalion (NMCB 133) during WWII was sent in on the first wave at Iwo Jima by mistake (Everyone wore Marine uniforms then) and suffered 33% casualties in the first week.
In every video I've seen of Pacific combat, our guys fixed bayonets before charging into the jungle. I understand the look of glee on his face. I've been on work details that were just as boring.

Delete"Combat Engineers" are US Army.
It was a combined recruiting office.
