And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
That's a Filson Packer hat. I've got one that must be close to 50 years old. It's so old I can't even remember when or where I bought it. Filson used to be quality stuff. I don't know how it is anymore.
It looks like they're over $80 these days. I'm sure I paid about twenty bucks for mine. I thought the hat band had fallen off. I just checked. It's still on there! It's still in great shape.
Suggest ya check out Norman MacLean's "Young Men and Fire" (he wrote "A River Runs through It and Other Stories") as well. His son John has published several books about major fires (and the brave souls who fight them) primarily in our Great American West.

Bought a Filson Packer hat last year. Love it. Their stuff is still quality, but expensive.

DeleteEdward Abbey writes some really terrific stories in his book "Desert Solitaire."
