Punched out, but the missile's gonna get him

  1. The co-pilot punched out but the pilot is still in the cockpit. And that missile would have to do a 180 to get that seat and it'll be burned out by then.

    1. Did anybody ever tell you that you're a nit-picking killjoy that loves to point out what's obvious to anyone with a functioning brain cell?

    2. Back seat goes first lest he get toasted eyebrows from the pilot's rocket motor.

    1. I'm getting the vibe that that missile has been photoshopped into an image of an ejection seat test.

This is a F-4. In no way am I an expert, but this looks like an early A or B model used by the Navy and Marine Corps (no gun on the chin).

    1. If it is indeed a Rapier, it carries a 3 pound blast warhead. Ir was felt that its accuracy and speed obviated the need for a larger warhead.

  5. Phantom 1473 belonged to the Naval Weapons Center at China Lake and was used for testing ejection seats and weapons separation. It is now in the China Lake Base Museum. Besides the photoshopped missile, what is that on the tail?

    2. Which explains why the rear seat isn't occupied by a human being.
