    1. Kinda yes and no.
      Yes, there was a flash over fire from the dust, but the silo didn't explode.

    A few years back test weight for wheat was over 70lbs/bushel. normal weight is 58/bushel.
    Many tanks and augurs collapsed.

  7. Was three blocks away from the grain silo
    in Knoxville, Tn. when it exploded killing three people. It was determined that static ignited the dust. The fires took more than a day to get under control.

  10. Under the right conditions grain dust is as explosive as dynamite. Just one spark will detonate it. Airborne concentration is the key.

  11. Same principle works with non-dairy creamer. Sprinkle some over a match and watch it go POOF!

  12. Dust explosion…always catch us firefighters off guard. Dangerous and destructive.
    I have got some good photos of how it all evolves from another lifetime ago in the 70’s.
