And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Only a foolish person would put the mattress right on the edge of the porch. One roll in your sleep in the wrong direction and you fall off. I look around and I think, somewhere a village is missing it's idiot!
My first thought was that the mattress was a perfect location for a sniper to keep an eye on that road in the distance to protect them from incoming bad guys.
