And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
The upper row middle feller resembles Frank Hamer a little, and looks about the right age for this period. But I don't think it's him. Hamer had a bigger stature, more height.
Check out the The Texas Rangers Museum in Waco sometime and you'll see some of those weapons. The Museum sits on the south bank of the Brazos (which still runs muddy like she's run all along) right there at I-35.
There's a story about a Texas Ranger that went after a bad guy. The bad guy resisted and was terminated by the Ranger. The Ranger's report on the incident simply read "He needed killin".
