  2. Yeah, life was good with 8-track tapes. Until the player ate the thing. There was definitely no fixing it - you always had to buy a new tape.

    1. I have cut away the damaged tape section and spliced the ends together.

  3. I think the last 8 track player & tape I saw (other than a flea market) was in 1973...

  4. My better 3/4 found a brand new, still in the shrinkwrap Audiovox underdash 8 track unit at a garage sale for $5 a couple years ago. It now lives & works in my 1975 Chevy van. Tapes are seriously hard to come by tho…

    1. Look for 8 track tapes at Estate Sales. Go to estatesales.net and enter your city.

  5. Don't forget the matchbook or a piece of cardboard to "shim" the tape so it'll play right.

    1. And the “ka-chunk” sound in the middle of long songs when the tape changes tracks. Foghat’s Slow Ride just doesn’t sound right without it.

  6. My 67 Shelby 350GT has an 8Track. The
only tapes that were in the dash were a Red Fox tape and a truck stop comedian.
Both are hilarious but dirty as hell!
