And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I've been to and wandered freely in two actual Batcaves.
One is the actual caves at the foot of the Hollywood sign at the head of Bronson Canyon, where the Batmobile was filmed blasting out of the secret subterranean exit from stately Wayne Manor.
The second was the multi-story one constructed by Warner Bros. in the vacant Spruce Goose dome, three stories tall, complete with elevator for the Batmobile, and tons of steel and concrete to make the 200' exit road 20' up off the floor.
And I still want a hinged bust of Shakespeare in the bucket-list mansion, with batpoles hidden behind the false wall.
I like the KEEP OFF sign too. Who is it for, the tour groups? We always went to the neighbor's house to watch Batman with their kids - the only ones on the street with a color TV.
Love the sign, "Keep off, Atomic Pile".
ReplyDeleteClassic campiness, loved all of it…
ReplyDeleteIt was high level entertainment when I was 6-7 years old.
ReplyDeleteBayouwulf
Yeah, we were 9, so we loved all of it.
ReplyDeleteExcept for Robin.
Robin was a brat.
The Boy Blunder
Delete"Boy Blunder" was Mad magazine
Delete"Chemo-Electric Secret Motion Detector"...?
ReplyDeleteHoly Gadget Whores, Batman!

Time Tunnel; who remembers?
ReplyDelete
DeleteI also remember all of the sparks and (small) flash bangs (mostly smoke) as they went into the tunnel.
Best Batman ...ever! Elevating comic books to just the right level...
ReplyDeleteWatch it every Saturday night right after Svengolie.
ReplyDeleteWas a favorite as a kid, original shows too
ReplyDeleteAnd it was "In Color!"
ReplyDeleteDefinitly needed the shocks replaced
ReplyDeleteI was 8-years-old when this TV series first aired.
ReplyDeleteNow, my grandkids love watching it with me.
Hokey? Yes. But still fun.

ReplyDeleteA direct ancestor of "Iron Man" and his digs.
ReplyDeleteNothing changes.
Same Bat time, same Bat channel.
ReplyDeleteIt was all the rage to guest star on that show. I like the one with Werner Klemperer, pretty much in character as Col. Klink!
ReplyDeleteOddly enough, Klemperer was a German Jew whose family escaped Nazi Germany by moving to the US in 1933. He ended up serving in the US Army in WWII.
