And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
the driver on the floor (in front of the fireplace) would not be connected. with out even just an engineered open baffle it would do nothing but produce distorted sound.
Looks like some stuff from Parts Express, the raw wood speaker maybe & they also have open tube amps too. Definitely a weird setup. Must be listening to classical music.
Most of the kit looks homemade. Or mostly from 1958. Phono 1970s i think. The room is hard as nails acoustically. Go get padded wool rugs, drapes, fabric wall art.
Klipshorn speakers, or something from a ballpark PA system in the corner? Horns are super efficient so you get big volume from low powered amps.
Most likely Altec multicellular horns. These seem to be the much more complex version of the horns in the A7 “Voice of the Theater” enclosures. They could be good sounding when in a suitable enclosure, but I would not know what to expect with them just sitting on top like this. They would be similar to those ballpark speakers, but used here only for ~1.2 kHz and up. The tube electronics could be good, but I don’t recognize the specific models. The overall collection of components would be interesting to play with.
Reminds me of when I met my wife in 1983. Explaining to her that I had a $10,000 record player, no FM, no TV. Just records,,, oh,,,, and a REVOX A-77 half-track.
