And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

A Good Place To Live, Especially If You Have A Boat
Cape Porpoise Maine was one of the quaint little harbors we visited while vacationing aboard my brother-in-law's Tartan 34 sailboat back in the 80's. We spent one night anchored (or moored -- can't recall which) in that harbor during our trip from Portland Maine to Mystic CT.
The following morning, as we prepared to motor out to the open sea, we quickly discovered that our prop was totally fouled with a lobster pot line. There were quite a few pots in the pond at the time, which seemed surprising. While we attempted to untangle the prop from what was now a real mess, a local on a small boat motored by and asked if we were having a problem. We mentioned we were caught up in a lobster pot line and his response was "just cut the line, those pots are not supposed to be in here anyway."
My wife (a much better swimmer than me) volunteered to jump in and cut the line. After several minutes of cutting the tangle off the prop and prop shaft, she surfaced to announce the prop was now clear. About the same time, the lobster trap's float arrived at the surface, and the gentleman who advised us to cut the line learned that the paint color and markings on the float identified that the lobster trap as one of his! We all had a bit of a laugh, as did the lobsterman.
I had completely forgotten about this "sea story" until I saw CW's posting of the Cape Porpoise harbor! Thanks CW!

Agree with Handy - "peaceful demonstrators" can come inland and north at their own peril.
