And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Correct . . . it’s just the slide and the frame. The other parts haven’t been assembled yet. While I like engraving, I myself wouldn’t have gone that far on a Glock. I like steel and wood and it took me a long time to accept aluminum in guns. Plastic is an even bigger leap, and while any design has its merits and flaws it’s pretty clear that Glocks are tough and fairly reliable. Injecting plastic into a mold is a lot faster and cheaper than forging, casting, and machining. If you’re buying millions of handguns for soldiers and policemen, economy is an aspect of quality that can’t be overlooked. So a lot of Glocks got sold. My boss bought an old 20 gauge Winchester Model 12 for his wife, and I shortened the stock and fitted a recoil pad to it. I also disassembled it completely for cleaning, inspection, and lube. Many people love those guns and it was easy to see why, but it was also easy to see why it went out of production. Many of the internal parts were so irregular in shape that I suspect a LOT of custom fixturing was needed to hold those parts for machining, as well as a lot of separate steps and reorientations. (All in the days when highly skilled labor was king, and before CNC machine tools.) So while a Model 12 may have been reliable and deliciously smooth to handle and operate, a lot of people bought Remington 870s or Mossberg 500s instead . . . because they were less expensive, and good enough.
A. This is the dumbest idea ever. If you're going to put fancy engraving on a gun (and this engraving is very well done, IMO), you should start with something better than a mid-tier Glock. B. Not only are there no barrels, all the other parts are missing too....no triggers, no mag releases, no pins....they're simply showing the frames and slides.
Why...?????.....on a piece of plastic......!!!...
ReplyDeleteCNC machine is my guess.
DeleteHope it was just for practice

DeleteI have not idea what this is. There is no gun barrel. Right?

Waisted time on a Glock. A better platform would have been a Beretta 92, 1911 Government, or one of the knock-off Hi-power clones.
ReplyDeleteMy old boss had a saying: “ that’s like stuffing a diamond up a goat’s ass.”
