And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
'49's. The parking lights on '50's are squarish and under the end of the grille bar instead of in it. Also, you can't see it in this picture but the '49 door handles are pullout levers and the trunk had a handle to pull up to release the trunk. 50's had push-button door handles and the trunk released with a key. I don't know much but I was there.
perhaps 1950?
ReplyDeleteI'll take the yellow F-1 pickup.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what the cost was for one of those vs the cost of a house in those days?
ReplyDeleteIf 1950, around $1500 or so. A 3BR/2BA house was roughly $5K in larger urban areas.
ReplyDeleteNever ever saw a red one. They were mostly like the whitish one.
ReplyDeleteRed automotive paint has always been VERY expensive.

ReplyDeleteBack in the early 1980s I bought a '49 Ford business coupe. Business coupes had 2 doors and no rear seats. Just a shelf for carrying sales samples.
ReplyDeleteOn todays assembly line the'd all be the same color...blah.
ReplyDeleteLike the Model T - any color you want, as long as it's black.
Deletei have some of those. One is a 1950 Crestliner, running, driving, needs paint.
ReplyDeleteI see the fourth one back is ready for its matching binoculars.
