  4. Hi Mike, Lincolns of that era had MEL (Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln) V8s of 430 cubic inches. The FE (Ford-Edsel) V8 was the standard engine in lower priced Edsels and was found in all Ford cars and pickup trucks. Luxury cars are status symbols. That status is diminished if it has the same engine as farmer Joe's F150. My first car was a '68 XL500 fastback with a police interceptor 428, the largest of the FE V8s.
