And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
Hi Mike, Lincolns of that era had MEL (Mercury-Edsel-Lincoln) V8s of 430 cubic inches. The FE (Ford-Edsel) V8 was the standard engine in lower priced Edsels and was found in all Ford cars and pickup trucks. Luxury cars are status symbols. That status is diminished if it has the same engine as farmer Joe's F150. My first car was a '68 XL500 fastback with a police interceptor 428, the largest of the FE V8s. Al_in_Ottawa
When cars were CARS!
ReplyDeleteI had a similarly colored Chevy Nova Supersport….ah those memories
ReplyDeleteThat would likely have a 410 (an FE motor) or 460 (bigger block) power plant.
ReplyDeleteThe 62 had a 427.

DeleteIsn't that what JFK was riding in when he... ahem... passed away?
ReplyDeleteA buddy in the service had a hardtop, baby blue inside and out. What a tank, the rear seat was like a couch.
ReplyDeleteThe car's not bad either!
ReplyDelete"Road Trip!"
ReplyDelete"Green Acres" but wrong color. Lisa wanted to learn to drive and asked the driving instructor what the Pernerndel on the steering wheel column was.
ReplyDeleteP-R-N-D-L.
I wonder how old the average person is on this site?
ReplyDeleteAre you insinuating that I'm average?
DeleteI am 71 and think the average age of readership is just slightly younger than I.
ReplyDeleteI'll be 75 this September
