And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
One of my biggest car mistakes was not completing the deal I had on a '69 Z28. That was the year Chevy's came out late. I got out of the Navy in Oct of '69 and I put money down on the Z28. Then I saw the '70 Cuda's. I thought why should I get a '69 Chevy when the '70s were out and no one knew when the '70 Chevy's were gonna come out. I ordered a Cuda, got my money back on the Chevy. The Cuda, 440 Six Pack, 4 speed, 4:10 rear was the absolutely worst car I have ever owned. Regretted it ever since.
If you have never heard of Mark Steilow, Google him. The above looks like one of his cars. I may have the last name spelled wrong but he should be easy to find.
All his cars kick serious ass, and takes no prisoners. Bad ass is an understatement.
I guess it depends on what your version of a driver is. Even a stock 69 camaro is almost too valuable to leave unattended while you go to a sporting event.
So yeah, by that measure, any 69 camaro or other vintage car ceases to be a daily driver.
However, I bet this spanks just about any modern car in terms of speed, cornering and stopping abilities.
Give me the modern capabilities inan old wrapper any day.
69 was the best muscle car model year across all brands as far as I'm concerned. I rode both sides of the line. I had a 66 Mustang then a 70 Camaro SS.
I loaned a classmate a Hot Rod magazine back in '68, with an article about the '69 Z28. That was the beginning of his obsession. he knew how many 9/16 bolts there were, and how long each one was. He did end up with a blue '69 Z28
he got fired from his first job in '72, and he still obsesses about that. I pity the peopl;e around him.

That's a show car, I'd rather have a driver.

I don't think that car even has windshield wipers.
Delete'69 in MHO was the best body design for the Camaro. I had a white one with black interior and vinyl top. Wish I still had it.
ReplyDeleteWell, that makes at least two of us. My only criticism was the chintzy plastic bow-tie emblem on front & rear.
