And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I must disagree. The best seat is the front right. Pilot flying. BTW, the pilot's in Army flight school put their choice of A/C on a list. Yeah right. The top 3 or 4 in class "get" CH47. The next grouping gets the MH60. The next grouping gets gunships. The dregs (bottom) of the class get scouts. The scouts have the most fun flying but (BIG BUT) in combat they are usually the dead ones.
Every now and then I've thought of getting dual rated. But the cost! Whoppitychopters are expensive!
I knew a kid that if he put himself through firefighter school, dear ol dad would pay for multiengine commercial rotorwing. At tender age of 22 he was full fledged firefighter with 250 hours multi turbine rotorwing. I lost track of him soon after.
It's missing the 90 ft fast rope that we used to use to get off that damn thing. Reach out grab the rope but don't look down and use your boots to control your descent or speaking from experience you'll burn your hands even with two pair of leather gloves.
Every once in a while 2-3 will fly over. There's no mistaking their distinctive sound.

ReplyDeleteYep, I thought that fast rope was, relatively speaking, scarier than jumping.
