And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
I have actually helped load a hay wagon like that, some 70 years ago. My great-uncle had two hay fields across from his house and when I visited in the summer time he enjoyed having this 10 year old's muscles to help.
I never loaded wagons like that but we used to clean up what the bailer missed on row ends and corners and it was serious work. Pictures like this show us that life wasn't always easy for people. ---ken
So much work but it had to be done if you wanted to eat & that's how it was for thousands of years.
