  5. Looks like the F8F "Rare Bear" with a Wright R-3350. Possibly a Sea Fury with the same engine, but the front of the canopy and the spinner looks like the Bear's.

  6. I think that is Rare Bear, look at the huge prop spinner. The landing gear door is one piece attached to the gear while a Sea Fury has a two piece door with the top piece attached to the wing with a hinge.

  8. YES!!! Huge radial with large quantities of very high octane fuel being stuffed down it's throat. There has to be a limit on the number of times you can heat steel THAT hot and get any kind of service life out of it.
