Historical use of war elephants

    (War Elephants would be a good name for a band)

  2. Scipio used war elephants at the siege of Numantia in Spain, just as overkill. And the reason Britain is shown is because emperor Claudius rode a war elephant through London to overawe the natives during the conquest.

  3. "Mûmakil (known in Westron as Oliphaunts) were large creatures resembling elephants, often used in battle by the Haradrim. Oliphaunt was the name given to them by Hobbits."
    This is a scene from Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings" when Samwise Gamgee climbed a tree to see the "Oliphaunt."
    You can see him on the limb of the large tree to the right in this picture.
