1931. Columbia dirigible over the top of Empire State Building

    2. Yes, the top of the Empire Dtaye Building is round. The picture was taken from the bottom of the mooring mast made for dirigibles to dock, but it was too dangerous, which should've been obvious from the start. Higher wind speeds at that height and no ground crew to assist.

  4. In Re Blimps: called that because if you flick a finger against the gas bag, the sound it makes is "blimp"

  5. My Father lived in NYC at that Time, saw the Lufthansa Ships regularly. He saw the Hindenburg flying around the City, dodging Thunderstorms before it Crashed that Evening ,from a Static Discharge as the Mooring Rope was thrown to the Ground.There is a Vid of that as it happened, it was not the one you always see with the Hysterical Voice-over.
