  1. Be nice to see the whole thing in a picture. Guy must specialize in stress riser engineering.

    1. Lightening holes only add a stress riser if they were square!...but it looks like they were added with some smarts, and like anonymous also points out, some are even flanged to be lighter but stronger! It's done in aircraft all the time!

    2. That's what I meant. Maybe I should have said anti-stress. Or maybe the guy sells drill bits.

  2. So how much weight was he able to pull out of the vehicle?

  3. here is someone who knows just what weight to horsepower really means.
and notice the holes in stress areas are flanged ? that makes it stronger.
wonder how long it took to tune up the Weber DOCE's carbs ?
that is a piece of art.

    1. Who else builds rear engine cars that were air cooled? Flat six cylinder engines, for that matter. I can't swear to it, since the air cooled one I have worked on still has all it's gear installed, so hard to compare the metal contours I can see to these photos.

    2. Yeah, a 911, recognized it soon as I saw the brake fluid reservoir, looks like a pre 73 from the looks of the pedal cluster and the shifter. Be more effective replacing the fenders with fiberglass, it looks like the hood and rear deck lid are already carbon or fiberglass. I don't see a cage in the car so it's more for looks than function.

he had to count them all."

  9. I had a friend in Dallas named Sloane McCauley who drag raced a Hudson Jet (it would pull the front wheels with a 308 ci Hudson six). The class had no weight specified so Sloane did the swiss cheese trick. He saved every knockout in a 5 gallon bucket(s). Last I asked, he had saved about 85 pounds of metal. I suggested he have some of his body parts cut off (ears, toes, etc) but he didnt think my idea was funny.
