The cause of the erroneous Hawaiian missile alert? Some idiot pushed the wrong button, sending the state into a panic.

But that wasn't enough incompetence.
While it's citizens ran about preparing to die, It took the state 38 minutes for the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency to send out a second alert letting people know about the error.
The state, counties and military, being slightly better organized, corrected the alert on social media within about 15 minutes.
Gov. David Ige said the delay in sending a second alert to cell phones was due to state officials trying to determine if the alert was real or false, and getting federal permission to send out a second message.
So some goober at the state pushed the wrong button, and then the middle managers responsible ran about, unable to make a decision on their own, probably with their eyes rolling back into their heads in fear of doing something they could be held responsible for.  My retirement won't vest if I get fired today!
"We went through a process to confirm whether it was a real alarm or not. We did make the determination that it was a false alarm, and then we initiated the notification to everyone," Ige said.  How about you confirm with your own fumble fingered Gomer Pyle that a simple mistake was made, and fix it?
Vern Miyagi, head of the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency, reiterated that message Saturday afternoon.
He said the false alarm was sent out during a drill, and that going forward, that drill will be completed by two people instead of one.  Or, how about you just hire someone competent in the first place?  If you have Homer Simpson and Barney Fife both trying to decide what button to push, you might not be improving things.
The state instituted the missile threat drill for employees at the emergency management agency several months ago, as part of a broader state push to increase preparedness of the nuclear threat to Hawaii from North Korea.
"The wrong button was pushed," he said. "I deeply apologize for the trouble and heartbreak we caused today."
He said that the false alarm went out during a shift change.
The alert message did have a fail safe — and that failed.
"Again it's a human error. There is a screen that says 'Are you sure you want to do this?' That's already in place," Miyagi said. "We had one person, human error and that thing was pushed anyway."  That employee will be given a raise, a bonus, free counseling, ten days of paid vacation, and a promotion to the Oroville Dam Operations and Maintenance Department.
At each shift change, a series of procedures are completed. And it was at that point an employee clicked the wrong item on a computer.

Welcome to hawaii, where it takes 38 minutes to tell everyone it was a mistake 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

Saw soccer parents running off the field in fear; my boys & nieces are still very shaken. As parents, we could use some advice from the & as we talk to our children about what happened. Suggestions anyone?

Can y’all give some more details on this? Why was this message sent? Was there a missile but it veered in a different direction or something? Transparency please!

Just got this text from a friend re: Hawaii: “My friends are in a ‘fall out shelter’ in Hawaii due to the missile threat and hanging with Magic Johnson.” Get a false nuclear holocaust alarm, hang with a legend. Only in 2018... 🤦‍♂️

  1. I'm not sure I buy all that. I suspect they were hacked and can't bring themselves to admit it.

  2. I have two sisters that live over there. I would lean towards "idiots with political connections" that are working in that department.

  6. It is called Mutually Assured Destruction for a reason. we do not aim at military sites which are isolated in a desert or deserted islands. we aim at populations. we are all in jeopardy. everyone. we are all hostages to the actions of those in political positions able to command our deaths. get used to it. if you live in a town with a 10K population and the rain comes down, you are gone. that is the reality of our defense system.
the best defense in a nuclear world is the best offense you can afford to field. because there will always be some asshat out there willing to try.

  7. libtard conversation pointed out that we should have defensive missiles to knock down incoming fire. How many would that be? i asked. More than enough she says. what if they have one more than we have?i ask. we would have one more than they have she says. and how many would that be?i ask. More than enough she says.
scene from bar fight. bubba threatens rich milktoast. milktoast holds $100 bill in the air. "this is for who ever beats up bubba!" end of bar fight. this is how our MAD defense is working. we called it the "Chicago Way". someone picks a fight with us, they better get straightened out by their friends or everyone is going to pay the piper.
