And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

It's the third day since it's been legal to pump your own gas in Oregon
I have mixed feelings about that. I pumped gas as a teenager, and witnessed many attempts by the public to do it wrong. One time I ended up doused in gasoline, and was blind for about 20 minutes. People are stupid by nature, and will go out of their way to FUBAR things. On the other hand, I'd rather pump my own gas, and know it's being done correctly and safely.
Stupid law. Only in counties of less than 40,000 and only between 6pm and 6am.
The original no self-serve law was implemented in the 1950's after a smoker immolated herself and her kids. It's come up for vote since then but kept in place to preserve minimum wage jobs and because it's "unsafe" and "inconvenient" to let the general public pump gas.
Motorcyclists are allow to hold the nozzle though.
