  1. Night, IFR, Low Level in mountainous terrain well before GPS and sophisticated datalink positioning. And then you came back to land on a carrier in the dark. The A-6 had one of the most challenging mission profiles imaginable.

    1. The Navy pulled the A-6 out of service before it had a successor. The F-18 has filled that roll, but it can't carry the payload in the same mission profile as the A-6

  3. Say, LL. do you recall off hand what percentage of maximum allowable gross weight of the A-6 was allowed for ordnance???
