  1. I wonder what percentage of a day's pay (min wage for the day) that 19 cent hamburger took?

    1. “The ultimate test and measuring stick of wealth is time. What remains scarce when all else becomes abundant is our minutes, hours, days, and years. Time is the only resource that cannot be recycled, stored, duplicated, or recovered. Money is most fundamentally tokenized time.”

  3. Here's a close estimate:
    1958 U.S. minimum wage: $1
    In 2020 dollars: $9.02

19% in 1958 wages. Anywhere from 40 to >50% in today's inflated fiat.

    1. And yet we, as a country, refuse to increase the minimum wage that we pay.

  4. Back in 1960, my family lived in the Syracuse, NY area and we had Carroll's 15 cent hamburgers.

Also in 1962, my hourly wage as a lifeguard at a lake was 99 cents per hour.

  10. In 1970 at age 15, I worked at McDonald's for $1.25 an hour (and was glad to have the opportunity) and a hamburger cost 19 cents. A cheeseburger cost 24 cents. Only white doods worked there and there was no lollygagging. From order to delivery took less than a minute every dam time.
