And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.

Dewey Moore Airstrip Idaho Cessna 185 No Music Raw Sound
Nice approach. Having the IO-550 engine makes it possible though. Lots of power for the approach and takeoff.... Twisted approach, but all downhill so that wouldn't be that bad. Thee landing looks rough and short, and once you've committed to it there's no going back.
I've made thousands of successful short field landings, but that one deserves respect. Having modern nav is one thing, but I wonder how many guys could even find that strip without it, no doubt my dumb ass would have a hard time. In reality there's probably some Alaskan pilot that could do it at night if there were a glow stick at the touchdown end.

doesn't the 185 have a geared prop?
ReplyDeleteno the C-175 was the geared prop plane
Deletethis one has a 550 engine which is bigger than the standard C-185 engine
I would think the pilot landed there before. Great video.

ReplyDeleteBet those winds down that river canyon are interesting.
ReplyDeleteI hope that was his 2nd pass, I'd hate to try landing there only to discover a fallen tree or large rock...
ReplyDelete"airstrip", cute!
ReplyDeleteThe stall buzzer hasn't changed in 50 years.

ReplyDeleteAs somebody that flew fighters for twenty years, the guy in this video needs his head examined. Expect him to wind up a statistic.
