    1. I worked in Eureka in the early '70s when all of the many mills had wig-wam burners operating. On a bad day you could barely breathe. On a good day it wasn't much better.

Mark Emerson of Sierra Pacific Industries has said that all of the stuff that used to be burned is made into finished products that at times, depending on the market, are some of his company's most profitable. He specifically mentioned the bark.

Grass Valley, CA has a new Tractor Supply store on the land that was formerly occupied by the Yuba River Lumber Company mill. The burner is still standing right next to TSC's parking lot. I got a kick last year when I noticed a couple of Honkers had nested on top of it.

  2. Them wigwam burners was everwhere when I was a boy. I live in Cathlamet know. Great stands of big timber once. Karl Marlantes wrote a book titled Deep River about his people who were Finlanders, I believe.
He also wrote the Vietnam book Matterhorn

  4. Not to worry, one of our elites (Bill Gates) wants to cut down hundreds of thousands of acres of trees and bury them in the ground to stop "global warming". That plan was well thought out and should work as well as any of there other genius plans like 5 minute cities and CBDC.Voting your way out of this mess (uniparty) will not work but boycotting their businesses might. Speak out against the parasites and do not do as they tell you ( boosters, masks, no cash, vegan food, bury trees, Antifa, global never ending war, inflation, and federal run programs).

  5. There was a news story last week about how trees contribute to global warming. It was from a study done by some egghead at some university. The theory goes that when trees die or burn in a wildfire carbon is emitted into the atmosphere. When I told my wife about this, I shook my head and said "You can't win for losing with these fools".

I have a solution to the Left's vexing new tree problem. But they're not going to like it. It's called 'selective cut logging'. Turn trees into lumber. No brainer. That way you don't have to worry about them dying or burning up.

Have you noticed that these huge fires started happening as soon as new, growing vegetation got established after the federal government cut the allowable harvest by 90% during Clinton's presidency? Coincidence? I think not.

I've been saying for thirty years that these new mega fires aren't caused by climate change, they're caused by a lack of forest management.

    Loggers are the answer.

  6. Yep, can't log it, and can't remove dead wood, either. Lots of fuel to burn...
