And what country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
In the early 90's a business associate gave me a signed Nolan Ryan baseball inside a glass sphere, for the work I did for him on a new baseball stadium in Fort Myers, FL. Still have it somewhere. Pro sports just ain't my thang tho I've made some decent coin off a few of the players.
It is said if Mays hadn't been stuck playing half his games in Candlestick park, he might have hit 850 homers.....what a shithole that place was, even compared to the polo grounds....
Mays, McCovey, Orland Cepeda, Felipe Alou, Jimmy Davenport over at third...
ReplyDeleteDid the Giants have a great team back then or what?
Fun Fact: Jim Davenport spent his entire career with the Giants and married his high school sweetheart. They remained married until his death at 82.
They just don't make them like they used to.
As a kid, I had a baseball signed by Willie Mays. Prolly threw it away at age 13 or 14, because, you know, who needs to keep that stupid stuff around.
ReplyDeleteReally dumb move.
