  3. One of the most fantastic sails I've taken was at the helm of the 112' schooner Mauna Tea out of Keihi, along Makaha, making west to lay Waimea Bay, jibe to run into the bay to anchor. Under a half moon in 2 meter swells. Majestic and thrilling.

    1. When we cleared Barbers Point, we jibed to ran rail down for 7 hours to the next jibe.

  6. Not the most efficient point of sail. This week I braved the West River on the Chesapeake in the teeth of a 50 knot breeze. Great fun. Motoring a Pearson 31 to a refuge single handed. Thought the boat was emulating a porpoise.
