  2. My mother alleged that I was enthralled with Shirley Temple as a little boy and crushed to find out that the movies I had watched on Saturday mornings were twenty years old. And Shirley had grown up.
    I deny the allegation.

  5. As a child she was cute, once as adulthood could not get a lot of acting jobs, found other work as a government employee.

    2. Temple took stock and admitted that her recent movies had been poor fare. She announced her retirement from films on December 16, 1950. (age 22)

  6. Truly a life well lived. She was a natural entertainer, a good mother and wife, a proficient and effective diplomat, and an exemplary public figure her entire life.
